Bored with Nothing to Do

During the summer, the kids are always talking about how bored they are. There are hundreds of television channels, lots of games to play, and even things they could do outside, and they’re still bored. Back in my day, we made our own fun, and when we weren’t having fun, we were outside selling lemonade to earn money for candy. I put my brain to work to think of something to entertain the kids, and that’s when it hit me. I went to and rented a bus for one day. I knew the kids would get a kick out of seeing the bus, but that was only part of the surprise.

The kids couldn’t believe their eyes when the bus pulled up. To them, it was like a space ship parked in front of their home. We boarded the bus and took it to our first destination, which was the ice cream factory. There we learned about the whole ice cream making process from one of the tour guides. They let us try free samples of all of their flavors, including some new ones that haven’t hit the market yet. The kids can’t resist ice cream, so this was a good way for them to have a treat an learn something at the same time.

After leaving the ice cream factory, we went to the petting zoo. The only real exposure that the kids had to animals up close were the ones in the backyard, and those were just birds and squirrels. We got to feed some of the animals while we were walking. When one of the sheep ate some food off of my daughter’s hand, it tickled her and she laughed. My son was really fond of the horses because they looked like giants walking around to someone like him who was short.
